Creating isometric illustrations can be quite fun and challenging at the same time. After studying Venice’s landmarks through photos and Google Maps, I wanted to recreate a stylized version of the city with minimalist shapes and a vibrant color palette. The most important aspect I wanted to achieve with this illustration was the mood it conveyed in a futuristic world while still retaining the essence of the city.
Sketching & Layout
Using an isometric grid as the foundation, I created a sketch that aligned with the grid structure. My approach involved loose strokes and focused primarily on the overall layout and the strategic placement of buildings.
By emphasizing the layout and composition early on, I was able to create a dynamic scene that would guide the viewer's eye to the main points of interest of the illustration.
